CASA DE LOS SPOILERS PARA OMAR

Postby specifik » Mon Sep 11, 2006 4:15 pm

No Omar in either episodes 1 & 2, but he's in the previews for Ep3 with his new fella. Looks like he got himself a Blackarican.

I'm sorry to report that I have nothing to report.

On Demand doesn't have Ep 3 up yet, at least not in SanFran.

Here's what I got from the Yahoo Wire group:

Omar nekkid.

Omar does something in a robe.

Omar gets into Marlo's shit.

Marlo sucks, and not in a good way.

back later.

I have this terrible feeling that work is going to interfere with my real life again, like it did with seasons 1, 2 & a little bit of 3.

Not a spoiler but a supercool and groovy thing: Tim Goodman, who is in a class of his own when it comes to tv and popcult criticism, will be doing a regular deconstruction of The Wire episodes.

This doesn't make up for the fact that ep 3 was not available this morning on On Demand. But it's nice.

You'll find him at sfgate.com. His blog is "The Bastard Machine".

ep 40 - Omar back

Postby specifik » Tue Sep 19, 2006 1:40 am

The mythology of Omar continues, with the dash of domesticity that we discerning Cheeseheads understand, and are not surprised by.

I admit, tho, that I cringed at first viewing. My first impression was that the whole scene was being played for laughs, and it is damn funny. But it reminded me of how pissed I was in S2 when I thought they were turning Omar into a clown with his wardrobe choice for the courtroom scenes.

It turned out that i was wrong, then. (And I often am, when it comes to The Wire.) And now that I've had time to let it all sink in, I'm wrong now, too.

Omar 's power comes from his impossibleness - he's as vulnerable as he is reckless. He's a hardcore marxist with a murderous heart, an immortal with an iffy life expectancy. He's a new paradigm shift for defining manhood (yahoo!). He's a piranha with a tender touch. He's
the Grim Reaper with a joi de vivre. He's a...you get the idea.

Omar's new boo is Reynaldo. He's light-skinned, with a beard and mustache and braids. He's aight. I'm sure he'll grow on me. He's already had one endearing scene: sitting at the breakfast table, he's reading Dream City, by George Pelecanos.

I know it's probably meant as an inside joke, but it's still pretty cool and in keeping with the off-kilter personalities that Mrthewriter infuses his characters with.

ach. my sentence structure is starting to deteriorate, so I'm gonna hit the sack and try to get articulate for tomorrow.

I pledge on all that is Manchego that I will not fetishize Michael K. William's body, except to say, and I quote:

"My man gives real loving that's why I call him Killer
He's not a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, he's a thriller
He takes his time and does everything right
Knocks me out with one shot for the rest of the night
He's a real smooth brother, never in a rush
And he gives me goose pimples with every single touch
Spends quality time with his kids when he can
Secure his manhood cuz he's a real man
A lover and a fighter and he'll knock a knucker out
Don't take him for a sucker cuz that's not what he's about
Every time I need him, he always got my back
Never disrespectful cuz his mama taught him that

What a man, what a man, what a man
what a man, what a man, what a man
what a mighty, mighty good man (he's a mighty, mighty good man)
what a man, what a man, what a man
what a mighty, mighty good man
what a man, what a man, what a man
what a mighty, mighty good man"

Here are all 3 of Omar's scenes in S4/Ep3.

You might want to fire up some candles, turn down the lights, put your silk jammies on, and settle in with a nice big bowl of Cherrios, honey.

i just checked in to work so I can onl y spend a minute right now. Mainly, I wanted to say that this week's description of ep4 on On Demand is a bit misleading: "Omar gets burned in a poker game."

It's actually more appropriate for Episode 5, based on the previews.

Reminder: Tim Goodman's blog, deconstructing each TW episode. He's a cheesehead, so, you know, it won't all be Bunk and Carcetti.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfg ... ?blogid=24

He's seen at least 8 episodes, and in his latest deconstruction he notes that Omar is using a handgun, and he opines that maybe later in the season he'll go back to the third arm.

Now, unless he's playing cruel games with the lovers of The King, then that means he's still with us through ep8.

AW HECK, OFCOURSE HE'LL BE BACK IN S5, WHY AM I WORRYING MYSELF SICK AND INCREASING MY DOSAGE OVER A GIVEN?

Amaryllis, the craziest thing- I was just thinking about you one day before you posted! Synchronicity in the Land a Cheese!

The actor playing Reynaldo is Ramon Rodriguez. I'm off to do a google/imdb search on his career, unless Latingrrl beats me to it.

It's nice in the Red Carpet special on On Demand, there's a clip of him saying something about being among the veterans. it's too short a clip to hear if the accent is real.

Omar - the true bad mother....

Postby Amaryllis7 » Wed Sep 27, 2006 7:06 pm

Hello, my dear Spekky:

The Wireboard on HBO has turned into “Clash of the Subscribers”: those like me who have Comcast Digital On Demand service versus those who don’t. Some people are crying over their inept local cable service and “spoilerish” discussions prevalent on the board.

I had to seek sanctuary in your peaceful oasis, where intellectual and cooler heads prevail! It’s so good to be back and enjoying a FANTASTIC season of the Wire! Indeed!

Did you dig our boy rocking the teal robe/pajamas, while invoking fear in the citizens?! Shaft has nothing on Omar. Omar is the bad mother “shut yo’ mouth!” LOL!!!

Wonderful, wonderful On Demand. Since I NEED to know what happens to Omar before it happens, I can now fast-forward to the end and even scrutinize the previews for any bad omens.

And...I can REWIND. But, gee, why would I do that? *COUGH*episode40*COUGH*. (silkjammiessilkjammiessilkjammies)

"Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself."

found this on youtube. it's the clip of Omar and Reynaldo robbing Marlo, wiht his usual panache.

Marlo is a very bad person, worse than Stringer. Let's pray Omar gets medieval on his ass.

Omar gets some of the BEST lines of dialogue. There are several clips of Season 4's The Wire (so far, the best IMO) on YoTube.

YouTube has the incredible opening scene with Lil-Man-Gurl (aka Snoop) in the "Home Depot" hardware store (boy, I'm waiting for MadTV to parody that opening scene).

There's also Omar's stroll to the corner store for some Honey Nut Cherrios for his boi. My goodness! That's some STRONG ass homo-thug love to get up out of the bed and walk to the store in your TEAL silk pajamas to get your baby some cereal, LOL!

(I wonder if Omar ever went to the store to buy Brandon (*sigh*) a box of Quaker Oats cereal bars when they were together.....)
