This is from a mostly negative review of the first 7 EPs. It's a Sun writer, so he admits his opinion is pretty impeachable. Nevertheless, in his opinion, the series only works when the focus is on the street (Omar, Prop Joe, Marlo) and is as stiff as some of the OTHER actors when the setting stays in the newsroom.

Snippet from the article:
The best thing about the narrative is that it stars Clark Johnson as Augustus "Gus" Haynes, a no-nonsense city editor. Johnson, who was superb in his understated depiction of Detective Meldrick Lewis on NBC's Homicide: Life on the Street, enlivens every scene in which he appears.

But I'm sure what he meant was the next best thing, after Omar. For whom's safety I am quite worried. I don't think "whom's" is good grammar, but you know what I mean.

Also, an Omar spoiler that is on the positive side (as in, not gunned down in a pool of blood like something out of a Peckinpah movie).

Please Lord God, make David Simon create a spin-off that somehow manages a cross-pollination between HLOTS, L&O, SVU and The Wire. I'll tithe bigger, I SWEAR!!!

OOH, and add DEXTER in the mix. He can partner up with Omar. Let the fanfic reel!

Almost forgot: The HBOyahoo Wire forum is asking for questions for a Clark Johnson Q & A. Unfortunately, the deadline to get questions in is Monday, Feb. 11, at 12noon. Don't know which timeline.

So, go get that.

Clark Johnson

Postby Amaryllis7 » Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:23 am

I first peeped this fellow Philadelphian on a 1980's Canadian cop show called "Night Heat."

That's when I fell in love with Clark Johnson! I then watched him on my fave cop show of all time, "Homicide:LOTS."

To reiterate Spekky's sentiments, I hope Dave Simon and company make a new show, which will be an amalgam of The Wire, Homicide:LOTS, and The Corner.

Then Simon can "resurrect" Michael Kevin Darnall! He needs more tv/movie work!!!

Damn, what a beautiful man!!!! :P
