Happy New Year, Latingrrl. May your year end with hope for a new future. (Ditto, world.)

The problem with the internets is that any idiot can have a forum. Proof: the most idiotic, uninformed, arrogant opinion piece ever written about anything. Ever. In the whole entire fucking world. To date.

If you are at all prone to queasiness, y'all should probably skip it, because it is barfalizing.

Who else saw the blurb in the current People mag, '3 Reasons I Love The Wire'? #2, baby:

Omar Little, The Best Outlaw On TV

Picture Clint Eastwood as a black, gay, shotgun-slinging vigilante who gleefully robs - and kills - the drug dealers of Baltimore. As Little, Michael Kenneth Williams steals every scene; whether he's doling out brutal justice or hard-edged tenderness to those loyal to him.

Damn right...

Funny they should cite Clint Eastwood. Bill O'Really? has said that he models himself after Clint Eastwood. If Clint Eastwood were dead, he'd be rolling in his grave. And I bet he considers the comparison to Omar a lot more endearing than Billo's posing. Politics aside.

OK, let's see...the previews for next week's episode...which I'll be able to see in about 15 minutes....the last scene of the previews looks like Butch getting hit over the head with a bottle...And I'm like...jeez...It's at the very least 15 months after the end of Season 4, and Marlo is just now getting all het up about Omar's million-dollar payday? Have faith, I says to myself. Not sure I'll be awake 15 minutes from now, and I have a shitload of work to do tomorrow. I don't feel compelled to watch Ep 3 (AKA Omar Arrives). I almost feel like letting the season play out and then watching it all at once, maybe. But then I'll be left out of all the erudite convo about how fucked up the world is and how there's really no solution and we should all die sad and depressed and feeling hopeless and no closer to an Emmy than we were 6 years ago.

On the plus side, Mrthewriter can only kill Omar once. And we'll always have the third episode of every season, when we could believe that the King a Cheese was as immortal in an ordinary man kind of way as Robin Hood.

AND, on the hopeful side, I've been wrong, so very, very wrong, and consistently unfair to MrTW every season so far. Yay for me!

My daughter watched Ep 53 at 7am this morning, and she told me it's bad. Very bad. Very, very bad. And if there's any nudity, she didn't mention it and I forgot to ask. I guess I'll just have to watch it and pray for nekkid Omar, or nekkid Reynaldo. Please God, let someone be naked in this episode! Give me a reason to watch!

I meant to post this last week but time gets away, you know?

In last week's EW mag, in the "What to Watch" section there was this about last night's episode (which was still a week away at the time):

"Couldn't have cared less if Carrie ended up with Big. Wouldn't have minded a bit if Tony Soprano hadn't lived to stuff another onion ring down his yap. Was secretly glad when Nate Fisher bit it. But if anybody touches a hair on Omar's head, I'm snapping off."

I wasn't able to watch the newest episode last night so I'm hoping whoever at EW wrote that didn't have to "snap off".
Got nothin' but LOVE for Keith & David!

David Simon explains S5's point. I think. He's being awfully snarky, but I love that he gives the viewers permission to hate, or be otherwise critical of this season, as we see fit.

I wrote in a comment that Gus goes on to create his own blog.

I get the majority of my news from an assortment of blogs. Then I go to Air America Raio, MSNBC, CNN, C-Span in that order. Then I do a google search to read articles from various media. Then I get sick of it and don't watch TV for days, although I do still read the blog headlines and decide to what extent I am physically capable of digesting the news.

The order I read my blogs:

Dailykos.com
Huffingtonpost.org

Link to a livejournalist who took pictures just a few days ago of the Wire stage and sets before demolition. I'm amazed at what they left behind. It reminds me of when I visited the S1 set and there were pictures stuck on a bulletin board of MKD2's brutal make-up.
