Did the Wire "Jump the Shark"?

Howard Stern and Robin Quivers gave much love to The Wire on his show this morning. They felt the Wire should've won an Emmy, not the West Wing. I agree with Howard and Robin.

I don't think the Wire came anywhere NEAR jumping the shark in terms of running out of ideas. I think it did a LOT of pandering to certain fan segments, including us Branded Cheeseheads. It only bothered me when they'd do those long close-ups of Stringer chewing, Stringer rubbing his forehead, Stringer using his face to act like he was in a Buster Keaton silent movie.

Yes, Howard Stern is my guilty pleasure...I listen to his radio show every morning; however, I rarely watch his evening show on E!, unless it features a particularly hilarious skit from the morning show.

(Hey, I'd rather wake up laughing to Howard, instead of to the depressing local news.)

I know Howard rarely exemplifies good taste, but when he and Robin gave a positive shoutout to the Wire on Monday, I knew all was not lost.
